Monthly Guild Gathering Wednesday December 2nd with David Theodoropoulos

Come join us on Wednesday December 2nd from 6:30-9:00PM at Matter of Trust at 3338 17th Street (near Mission) in San Francisco for our Monthly Guild Gathering! This event is FREE.

Bay Area Native & Exotic Plants, Land Use & Politics

Q&A and Discussion with:
David Theodoropoulos, Author of Invasion Biology: Critique of a Pseudoscience

In his book, Invasion Biology: Critique of a Pseudoscience, David takes on the notion that bio-invasion is a problem, while addressing the psychology and politics driving fear of “invaders.” Using case studies from the scientific literature, he examines how man-dispersed species increase biodiversity and benefit ecosystems.

David will share his perspective on Bay Area “native” and “exotic” plants, and how these categories influence land-use policies. We will discuss the role of Eucalyptus in our local bio-region, as well as the local municipal land management strategies to manage standing trees.

This will be an interactive discussion, so please bring your questions!

On the first Wed of each month, the San Francisco Permaculture Guild meets at the Matter of Trust Eco-Center in the Mission (located at 3338 17th Street, between Valencia and Mission).

People arrive and network from 6:30-7pm, and the meeting goes from 7-9pm. You are invited to bring a potluck dish to share.
